Why make a point of never using AI?
I get it: AI makes some things easier. (I'm not a Luddite shaking my fist at the cloud!) But the explosion of AI has raised serious concerns, from the environmental to the existential, so I've made the choice to keep my ceremonies AI-free.
I believe, as both an officiant and a pastor, that weddings (and other rites of passage) are about authenticity: we create a bubble of human magic, imperfection, and realness that's tucked away from the outside world of counterfeit emotion and infotainment. ChatGPT and other forms of AI, on the other hand, are emotionally bankrupt; they're soulless.
In the words of Martha Beck, "As spiritual beings having a human experience, our humanness is pretty much the whole point."
You and your loved ones crave feeling the genuine wonder of this threshold into marriage, right? If I can't write a dazzling ceremony, together with you, then I shouldn't be in this business. I'm banking on you showing up fully, me bringing my creativity and experience, and us harnessing our humanness to create an unforgettable ceremony.
